Reproduction
At Haddon Rig, our focus on reproduction is centred around breeding merinos that consistently deliver high fertility rates and early growth.
Our rams are selected for their ability to produce ewes with strong maternal instincts, high lambing percentages, and efficient reproductive cycles, ensuring the next generation is as productive and resilient as the last.
Reproduction Maximising Fertility and Efficiency
The key to our success in reproduction lies in carefully selecting and improving specific traits like fertility, lamb survival, and early growth. Our ewes consistently scan 130% lambs marked to ewes joined, meaning more lambs per season and a higher return on investment for our clients.
Incorporating Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) for traits like Weaning Rate (WR) and Yearling Clean Fleece Weight (YCFW) allows us to select animals that balance high reproductive performance with strong wool production. We also place emphasis on selecting for traits like Yearling Weight (YWT) and Post-Weaning Weight (PWT), ensuring lambs are not only born in greater numbers but also grow faster and more efficiently.
By continuously refining these reproduction traits, Haddon Rig merinos ensure that each generation performs better, maximising both productivity and profitability for wool and meat producers.
