2019 AWI ELECTION: VOTE GEORGE FALKINER

IN THE 2019 AWI BOARD ELECTION

PLEASE VOTE FOR GEORGE FALKINER

In November 2019 Australian woolgrowers will have the chance to elect three new directors to the AWI board. In this year's election, please vote for George Falkiner by attending the AGM or by nominating George as a Proxy who can cast a vote on your behalf (instructions on how to appoint a Proxy via mail or online are below).
George will tackle the biggest threats to the future of wool production in Australia. His main priorities are:

1. REDUCE PRICE VOLATILITY FOR AUSTRALIAN WOOL:

  • Expand demand for our wool in emerging markets and reduce Australia's reliance on China

  • Increase the manufacturing and processing capacity of alternative markets as many countries lack the infrastructure and capability to process our wool

  • Expand the presence of Australian wool in big online consumer brands and make wool more accessible to the every-day consumer.

2. ENSURE CONSISTENT SUPPLY OF AUSTRALIAN WOOL:

  • Assist woolgrowers to prepare for drought by securing funding for farmer-finance and drought-readiness workshops

  • Secure funding to control wild dogs

  • Educate and provide funding for the next generation of woolgrowers about the benefits and profitability of producing wool

3. BUILD CONSUMER TRUST IN THE AUSTRALIAN WOOL INDUSTRY

  • Ensure industry meets demand for sustainable, ethically-produced fibre

  • Improve traceability of Australian wool to build consumer confidence in wool

  • Promote industry cohesiveness across industry-sectors - science, R&D, policy and grower groups to present a united front to decision-makers and the public.
